CHRISTOPHER AND SARA HIRST RETIRING IN 2010 PORTRAIT APPEAL At the end of the Summer Term 2010, the Headmaster, Christopher Hirst and the Head of the Junior School and Senior Mistress, Sara Hirst, will retire after 15 years of outstanding service to Sedbergh School. During their time at Sedbergh we have seen the School develop into probably the leading boarding school in the North. The incredibly successful introduction of girls and the inauguration of Sedbergh Junior School are just two of their notable achievements. The Governors have decided to commission the usual portrait of the Headmaster to hang in Powell Hall and also a portrait of Sara Hirst to hang, most likely, in the Junior School. As in the past, many O.SS will welcome the opportunity to contribute towards the cost involved, and this can now be done ‘on line’ via the OS Club website or by sending a cheque payable to Sedbergh School Foundation to Sedbergh School Foundation, Freepost NAT 10132, Sedbergh, LA10 5BR. We are hoping to raise £10,000. If there are any surplus funds after the cost of the portraits have been covered, these will go into the Hirst Bursary fund which is being established. To donate on line ‘click’ on the link below or by printing off the donation form and returning it to the Sedbergh School Foundation. http://www.sedberghschoolfoundation.org/index.asp?page=make_a_donation&menuGrandParent=make_a_donation |
